Next Meeting:  at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Restaurant

Tuesday, June 23rd, 7:00pm

June Meeting:  Milt Keizer being the local expert in spinner and spoon, has come across some new products and techniques.  He will share his findings on a new Mack’s Lure product, the HummBait and a process that blackens spinner blades for a deadly Summer-run lure.  For the jig fishermen, he has some information on Glogetters, also from Mack’s Lures.

May Meeting:  We want to thank Roger Anderson for his fine presentation jig fishing for summer-runs on the Skykomish.

Cast For Kids:  Several members indicated that they would be at this month’s Cast For Kids program at Gene Coulon Park.  We will look forward for their report at the meeting.

Sturgeon Trip:  Members Harry Dahner, Don Olster, Roger Anderson, Tom Nordin,  Jim Grimes and his wife Cheron Gelber, Lorne Balnko, Bill Wilson, Bill Gildersleeve, Kevin Haiglie, and Steve Cunnington and guests Erik Andersen (no relation to Roger), John Peterson, Doc Bagby, Mike Patton, and Jim Gildersleeve enjoy the spacious Pacific Dream, the newest charter boat on the west coast.  The weather was great and tides were ideal.  Someone needed to tell that to the sturgeon.  With 30 man-(woman-)days put in, only six legal fish came on board.  There were about a dozen non-keepers, including one that was over-sized.  This year was the Grimes/Gelber show.  They walked away with the pot both days; Cheron on Friday with the largest keeper (Jim had the over-sized fish) and Jim had the smallest keeper on Saturday.  Yes they decided to change the winning criteria on the way out Saturday morning when they collected for the pot.  Kevin Hauglie rod was good for two on Friday, Jim Gildersleeve also got one on Friday, and Lorne Balanko rounded out the successful ones with one on Saturday.

Lead Pouring Party:  (POSTPONED – there is a conflict original date) John Dunkel has volunteered to provide lead for club members to pour anchors and weights.  He would like to make this a social event rather than just a convenience to the members.  It was suggested that since this should be an outdoor activity, we could have a bar-be-cue.  We can again discuss about when and where at the meeting.

July Picnic:  Ernie Anderson has secured the Red Barn at McDonald’s Park in Carnation for our regular July meeting date, the 28th.  We will be working out the details over the next few months.  As in the past we will divvy the potluck assignment based on the members last names; those with last names starting with A thru G will bring cold dishes and those with names H thru Z will bring hot dishes.  Be sure to start planning what bring for the “dessert” auction.  Be creative; choices are not limited to pies and cakes.
