Next Meeting: At the Red Barn,
MacDonald Park, Carnation

July Meeting -- Picnic/ Dessert Auction: Ernie Anderson has secured the Red Barn at McDonald’s Park in Carnation for our regular July meeting date, the 28th. As in the past, we will divvy the potluck cooked and cold foods assignments based on the members’ last names; those with last names starting with A thru G will bring cold dishes and those with names H thru Z will bring hot dishes. Milt supplies the good Yakima corn from Farmhouse Market in Fall City (sometimes it’s donated and sometimes they charge for it, which depends on their attitude and Milt’s oratorical inducement.) George Craig will again perform his fish-grilling magic with secret (ummmmm!) formula. Please bring some fish for him to BBQ! And be sure to start planning what to bring for the dessert auction.” Be creative; choices are not limited to pies and cakes. (Remember, “Candy is dandy, and wine is fine….MLK.)”
Bring a small pocket-full of lures or other fishing gear for the “Guessing Jar.” Count them at home and write down the number. Put the lures in John Dunkel’s big jar and hold onto that number slip…he will tell you how the total number will be determined. One caveat: a bag of beads or tiny items will count as “one,” not the 137 ‘what-ever’ items in the bag.
This is one of the major fund-raisers for our club. The others are the “Tackle/Services Auction” in October and our Christmas Dinner at the Fall City Grill, Fall City. With these and our annual dues, Eastside Steel-headers is self-sustaining and needs no car washes or other impromptu boosts to our annual budget.
Winter Steelhead Contest – At the Picnic/Dessert Auction, we will give a rod to someone who caught a winter steelhead, plus award the “Biggest Steelhead” trophy.
