August 2009 Newsletter
Next Meeting: at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Restaurant Tuesday, August 25th, 7:00pm
August Meeting: With the Humpies starting to show in the local rivers, Milt Keizer will share his knowledge and techniques on where and how to corral these salmon. If time allows, we can also open up a discussion from the rest of the members on what and where works for them.
July Picnic: We would like to give a special thanks to all that made this year's picnic a success. To name a few: Ernie Anderson for general organization and securing the pop and bottled water; Doc Craig for manning the barbeque and his special sauce; Milt for getting the corn donated and his auctioneering talents; John Dunkel for handling the lure jar contest; Bill Wilson's wife, Joanne, for donating her winnings from the lure jar contest back for the "dessert" auction; and everybody that brought and/or bought a "dessert" or "desserts".
Jim Grimes was in charge of the Winter Steelhead Contest. Little wonder, he was able to add his name to the traveling plaque this year for catching the largest Steelhead this past Winter. Tom Nordin was the lucky winner of a fishing rod by being drawn from a hat filled with the names of all who had entered a fish, regardless of size, in the contest.
August/September Outing: As a prelude to Milt's presentation, we will discuss the date and location of a Humpie outing.
Lead Pouring Party: We have not forgotten John Dunkel's offer to host a lead pouring party at his home. Unfortunately due to unavoidable conflicts John had to postpone the previously scheduled event. Hopefully, John's conflicts are under control. We can talk about this at the meeting.
Annual Service and Tackle Auction: It's only two more months before our Annual Service and Tackle Auction. Start looking for items you no longer treasure. One man's junk could be another's treasure. Of course you are not limited to junk. Any item that you think fuel bidding activity is encouraged to be donated to the auction. Fishing trips and other services are also welcome and generally produce the higher bids.
Annual Christmas Banquet: Be sure to mark your calendars for Monday, December 7th to join us at the Fall City Grill for our annual Christmas banquet and raffle. More details in the next few months.
